Ratna Chandra
Co-owner of a Boutique Property in Uttarakhand
She introduces herself as a wife, mother, and homemaker who loves to draw and paint, knit and crochet, embroider, cook, write, as well as sing.
m - How would you introduce yourself?
A - I’m Ratna—wife, mother, and homemaker, I think, but the Ratna in me also loves to draw and paint, knit and crochet, embroider, cook, as well as sing. And I write too. I also help my husband Manish run our boutique property, Solitude by the Riverside, in Uttarakhand.
m - What words would you use to describe your style?
A - I love all things vintage, handcrafted, and experimental.
m - Could you share your fondest memory with jewelry?
A - Trips to my mother’s locker with her, where spellbound, I’d watch her open up her precious pieces, kept in little potlis of soft mal handkerchiefs are perhaps my earliest and most fond memories of jewelry.
m - What caught your attention with MOI?
A - I just love the way the colorful little jingly-jangly colorful little pieces liltingly move and sway. The ‘lachak’ in the pieces allows them to softly flow. And it is this flow that attracts me, for it creates gentle graceful movements, that it seems, as though the gems & the latkans are almost dancing amongst themselves. And this is such a joy!
