She introduces herself as a gallery owner who has evolved alongside India's art market since 2003, a curator passionate about self-expression, and a vintage jewelry enthusiast drawn to old settings and patina.
m - How do you view the idea of “evolving” in your field?
T - I was 31 years old in 2003 when I started the gallery with my husband. When we started, the art market in India was young and there weren’t too many galleries. I feel that Mort and I have grown up alongside the growth in the market, the gallery, and the artists we started out working with. Evolved, found our bearings and forged new paths together. Made our own rules and lived by them.
m - What is that one piece of clothing or accessory that can instantly put you in a cheerful mood?
T - Mixing and matching pieces from my wardrobe and pulling together an outfit that defines me instantly uplifts my mood. Jewellery has to follow, whether it’s a pair or earrings or simply a pinky (finger) ring!
My day-to-day-style it depends on my mood: a great pair of heels, a statement bag or a romantic blouse. I think earrings complete an outfit and a brooch brings great joy. A chunky necklace makes a statement. All of it can put me in a cheerful mood.
m - What draws you to fine jewelry? How does it bring you joy, any fond memories around jewelry that you cherish to date?
T - I love vintage jewellery, old settings, design and patina is what I look for. I remember my grandmother gave me baby bangles made of 24 carat gold that I loved.
m - How do you feel when you wear Moi jewelry?
T - I had been admiring Moi Vibe jewellery long before I finally tried it. I appreciate the design ethos and wearability of the pieces. I am able to pair them with a lot of my wardrobe ranging from western to Indian outfits.
